One particular area enjoying a make-over is The Cut and Lower Marsh Street which were once home to London’s longest street market. The Portas Pilot scheme championed by retail guru Mary Portas has helped to re-liven areas that have become rundown. The scheme has set out to re-introduce the market and a number of other new initiatives to help bring more people back to this area of Waterloo.
Waterloo has also seen the transformation of its green spaces with many garden projects that are helping to make this one of London’s greener boroughs. Championed by local residents, groups help to take care of the public gardens in the area which has helped to improve large areas of Waterloo.
